OUR WORK-HUD Renovations PIC.jpg

Construction in and around public housing is notable, in part, due to two specific factors:  first, for the care and measures that must be taken to ensure the safety and well-being of the numerous residents, and second, for the unique administrative and compliance obligations that are required of the contractor.  Holzner Construction has years of experience working with public housing agencies across Connecticut.  Some of these agencies are:

·       Charter Oak Communities

·       Guilford Housing Authority

Electrical & Generators

Our Work- Electrical & Generators PIC.jpg

Holzner Construction was originally founded in 1964 as an electrical contracting company, named L. Holzner Electric Co.  While the company has grown to offer a wide array of general construction services, it retains its electrical roots.  We employ dozens of licensed electricians and registered apprentices.  Together with our sister company, Northeast Generator Co., we offer a unique focus on turn-key standby generator systems.  Completed electrical and generator projects include:

·       Bayview Towers, Stamford, CT

·       Buley Library, New Haven, CT

·       CT Dept. of Transportation Maintenance Facilities, Multiple, CT

·       Dorado Apartments, Yonkers, NY

·       Dyke Lane Pump Station, Stamford, CT

·       Eastern Middle School, Greenwich, CT

·       Lake Gaillard WTP, North Branford, CT

·       Laurelwood Place, Bridgeport, CT

Elevators

OUR WORK-Elevators PIC.jpg

Elevator construction and modernization is a very unique subset of the construction industry.  While there are a handful the big-name elevator contractors in New England (Schindler, Kone, Otis, ThyssenKrupp), virtually none of them are equipped to serve as the general contractor.  Holzner Construction has become somewhat of a specialist in this field…leading elevator construction or modernization projects as the general contractor and self-performing the trade work incidental to the elevator work itself.   Holzner Construction has completed dozens of these projects.  Some of them include:

·       Ashton Towers, Willimantic, CT

·       Capital Community College, Hartford, CT

·       Church St. Superior Courthouse, New Haven, CT

·       Connecticut Valley Hospital, Middletown, CT

·       Crawford Manor, New Haven, CT

·       Franklin School, Stratford, CT

·       High Rise Apartments, Willimantic, CT

·       Island View Apartments, Milford, CT

·       Spring Heights Apartments, West Haven, CT

·       Stamford Manor, Stamford, CT

·       State Office Building, Hartford, CT

·       Surfside Apartments, West Haven, CT

·       Tower One, New Haven, CT

·       Uconn Heath Center, Farmington, CT

Historical Renovations

OUR WORK-Historical Renovations-PIC-Union Station pic.jpg

Construction and restoration work on structures of unique historical importance is often limited to contractors that have a proven record of care and responsibility.  Holzner Construction has been entrusted with several projects in buildings of this type.  Each was completed with special attention and an eye towards detail.   Some of these project locations include:

·       Elm St. Courthouse, New Haven, CT

·       McAllister Hall, USCGA, New London, CT

·       Norwalk Maritime Aquarium, Norwalk, CT

·       Union Station Transportation Center, New Haven, CT

·       Waterbury Post Office, Waterbury, CT

·       Wilbur Cross Building, Storrs, CT

Marine Construction

OUR WORK-Marine Construction PIC.jpg

While marine construction is certainly a unique class of its own, it can be approached like any other general construction project.  Understand the requirements.  Identify the challenges.  Consult with the right people.  Hire the best subcontractors.  Solve the problems that you will inevitably encounter.

Holzner Construction has made significant inroads in the marine construction field.  Our first major marine project was completed in spring 2017.  The ~$2M construction of the New Boat Ramp at Veterans Memorial Park, in Norwalk, CT was not without its challenges.  The precast concrete structure was installed on a pile driven foundation system in the middle of a harsh winter.   While it may have been our first marine project, that fact was not apparent.  The project was successfully completed on time, to the satisfaction of the owner, and without incident.

The experience was invaluable.  We look forward to applying the knowledge gained to continue in this distinctive and exciting industry.
